Could Justin Bieber help you save a life?

No, really.

Everyone who's done a CPR course knows that Stayin' Alive from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack is the perfect beat to time your compressions - 100bpm.  As iconic as the song is, if you're under, say 40, that might not be much help.

New York Presbyterian Hospital maintains a playlist of songs on Spotify that clock in at 100 beats per minute that might make all the difference when you're under pressure (not the song, the Bowie/Queen classic's way too slow).

Whether it's Justin Bieber that floats your boat or Spice Girls, Beyonce, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Notorious B.I.G. and plenty more, there'll be something on there that you know well enough to keep the perfect timing to save a life.

Choose carefully,  it might not be a good idea to be singing 'Spirit in the Sky' out loud while you're trying to keep someone on this mortal coil.

Who'd have thought the Beebs could help save a life?
